Guest Speaker, Mr Muhammad Riaz, Speaks at IAPS winter meeting held in Dublin.

I was recently invited to be a guest speaker at The Irish Association of Plastic Surgeons (IAPS) Winter meeting 2014 at Mansion House in Dublin, Ireland. I delivered the presentation on “Tips and Techniques for the use of polyurethane breast implants”.

I have been using textured silicone implants for a number of years and having had experience of seeing problems like rippling, bottoming out, rotation and seroma formation, from 2010 I started using polyurethane surfaced breast implants. I have used these implants in more than 200 patients, very successfully, both for primary and secondary cases.

So far, I have not seen the same immediate problems that I was seeing with textured implants. Polyurethane implants are slightly more challenging to use for the surgeon. I also explained about my experience of muscle splitting technique of dual plane pocket, sharing my techniques with the audience in the IAPS meeting, which was very well received.
