2nd Patient with Ehrlers-Danlos syndrome benefits from the ‘R’ face lift, pioneered by Mr M Riaz
Mrs A M came to see Mr Riaz after reading the article in the 2016 edition of Tatler Beauty & Cosmetic Surgery Guide. She was directed by Tatler to Mr Riaz’ web-site where she read the case report detailing the first `R` Face Lift performed for an Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome patient.
She hoped that Mr Riaz may be able to help her, as she also suffered with Ehrlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) EDS has significant implications on recovery time following surgical procedures and facial cosmetic surgery is thought to be contraindicated in such patients.
For clarification Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is the name for a group of rare inherited conditions that affect connective tissue. There are several different types of EDS that may share some symptoms, including:
- an increased range of joint movement (joint hypermobility)
- stretchy skin
- fragile skin that breaks or bruises easily
Mrs A M travelled from London area to consider the option of surgery with Mr Riaz. After a lengthy personalised consultation and taking into consideration the risks and benefits, she later returned to Hull for her surgery, and was discharged the following day. She made a full and speedy recovery, returned to work soon after surgery and is delighted with the outcome.
A Heartfelt thank you from Ann
